Bookings open and call for papers announced for new conference

Bookings are now open and the call for papers is announced for the new play conference, Play 2021, planned for 7-8 July at the University of Birmingham and on-line.

The conference, organised by Playful Planet and the University of Birmingham, with the support of playful schools specialists, Opal (Outdoor Play and Learning) aims to shine a light on what the Covid-19 pandemic is revealing about societal attitudes to children, play and space, and to stimulate debate and fresh thinking as the world begins to recover.

Conference themes are play and learning, play in the built environment, playwork and play in the early years. Cross-cutting themes are play and the pandemic and play and inequality.

Initially, bookings will be for an online event, with delegates to be offered the option to upgrade to a ‘live’ seat at the conference in Birmingham if and when it is announced that such events are permitted, as restrictions change.
